Hong Kong Day 4: Ocean Park
It was the best day (weather wise) of our holiday. Although it was muggy, there was no sight of a rain drop till late evening. The best we could hope for, really. I came with missions of meeting the pandas and riding on the infamous ABYSS Turbo Drop. But sad to report, I missed out on one. Sigh!
Anyway, Apart from the same frustrations I encountered in Disneyland i.e. the shoving, cutting queues and all, it was a day full of fun and excitements.

Starting all the way from the top

They've got 4 cuties there, An An, Jia Jia, Ying Ying and Le Le. An An and Jia Jia are the old folks while Ying Ying and Le Le the newly added 2 year-old. When we were there, Jia Jia, Ying Ying and Le Le slept like a pig, oops, I mean slept like a panda. An An then just keep eating non-stop. SOOOOOO CUTE can melt! I just wanna hug them tight tight!

Hong Kong Day 3: Disneyland
My Disneyland experience was generally enjoyable, apart from being annoyed at those tourists who behaved badly, and all of them were Chinese! They pushed, shouted and cut queues...even the kids did that, and their parents followed behind. My god! Is it just me or what? Couldn't they just behave themselves? They shoved like no tomorrow, like the Disneyland was going to vanished in the next minute like that. And I could see the staff being frustrated and annoyed. Who could blame them?
Anyway, even more photos this post! Hehehe
The MTR train so cute!
Take a peep at the inside, sooooooo cute can melt!
The Victorian style Disneyland Resort Station

Lucky the queue wasn't that long, got the tickets in 5 mins

The township
Ya, I was pissed coz' people cutting queue and shoving like hell...hmph!
It was pouring...I seriously needed a rain coat!
The rain coat so cute neh~~~~

The Fantasyland (My favourite!)

The Tomorrowland

The Rainy Day Express Parade
They cancelled their normal parade and replaced with this Rainy Day Express parade (The rain's fault lah). It was really an express man, only had the cartoon train with some cartoon characters on it and that was it!

Not sure who they are....but very pretty!
In one of the souvernir shops
Donald Duck is always my favourite!
I was lucky to catch Donald and Daisy before we left the resort. I was the 2nd last in queue. Thought I was going to miss them initially.....

Although the rain, I was still very happy.....Doreen's remark of the day......
The Dinner
We had dinner at 仙迹岩 (Saint's Alp Teahouse), just 5 mins walk from our hotel. Their service very good, staff very friendly and food not bad too.
Hmm......all sounds good....what do I want.....?

Hong Kong Day 2: Hong Kong Island
11 Aug 2007, Saturday
Day 2. All weather warnings had been cancelled though there was still no sight of Mr.Sun. There were still occasional showers.
It was a day out in the Hong Kong Island. My original plan was to go to Disneyland but it's been put off as I was still hoping for the miracle, the weather I mean. We visited Hong Kong Convention Centre, Lan Kwai Fong, Victoria Peak, Madame Taussad’s wax museum and shopped around Causeway Bay. Didn't take much photos today too though there are still enough photos that would make you sick of me. Hehehe. We stopped taking photos when it rained and only managed to quickly snapped a few during the "rain break"
Breakfast at Macau Restaurant
Thanks Misha for introducing this place in one of her posts. The portugese egg tarts there are heavenly. So good that we went back on another day for these irresistable portugese egg tarts.
Hong Kong Convention Centre

Here, my rambling....(I only realised I have many "lor" in my speech)

As recommended by Cheesie. Many thanks to her. This place is a must must visit. The best mango desserts I've ever tasted, their mango pudding is soooo rich and they have so many variaties. I am so in love with it that I still think about it everyday. They have branches everywhere, and I had been to 3 of them through out my trip. Still not enough, it's never enough for such a crazily deliciously heavenly desserts. On my god....I want to go back there!

Madame Taussad’s Wax Museum

She is soooooo pretty!

Not my height, don't be fooled by the numbers. It's all camera tricks. I ain't that tall

Rick's favourite is this one with Leon Lai. He says the pose is not as boring......
My favourite? It has to be this one......with ANDY LAU!!

I don't know lar, I think both our poses and facial expressions very well matched. Andy was the more popular one on the night, lots of people surrounding him waiting to take picture. I was quite "pai seh" posing as people all watching while they were waiting. Hehehehe
Shopping around in the souvernir shop before leaving
The Dinner
We were so tired that we had takeaway in our room.

Hong Kong Day 1: The Tropical Cyclone No.8
10 Aug 2007, Friday
We arrived into Hong Kong at approx 6:30am. It was already raining. I guess it was the first flight of the day, so the baggage, custom and imigration process were pretty smooth and quick. We were then transferred by the pre-arrange coach to our hotel, Intercontinental Grand Stanford in Tsim Sha Tsui. Check-in was hassle free with those friendly staff.
Things looked pretty good so far apart from the rain. "Never mind, tomorrow will be a better day", we thought (We knew it's gonna rain all week but was still hopeful). We decided to take it easy by just exploring Kowloon and shopping around. We popped by 仙果園 - "Joyful Peach" for a refill....

We also met up with Kevin and his wife in Mongkok, who happened to visit Hong Kong at the time too. They were on the run, so we agreed to have a proper catch up supper at night. As they departed, we continued shopping in Grand Century Place and also made a detour to Bird Street and Garden Road. Not much to see as it was raining like cats and dogs. I was almost soaked wet so we went back to Grand Century Place. As we walked back into the mall, I noticed many shops have closed and the mall was crammed with people. Only later on, we learned that the Hong Kong Observatory had issued Tropical Cyclone No. 8 warning signal. Offices, shops were closed or to be closed and everyone was rushing back home. Hell! They hadn't had this No.8 Cyclone for 3 years, and it hit on my first day in Hong Kong! I just couldn't help I was that lucky!!
Coming from a windy city, gale of 60-70 km/hr is a norm for us and we had been through the gale of 160 km/hr once that had blown cars over on the motorway. We were quite curious of what this Cyclone No.8 is capable of (I had only seen it in the Hong Kong series). However, seeing the chaos in the city panicked me. There were long queues at the bustop, people were pushing trying to crammed into the bus/MTR. People were crying and infuriated. It was quite a situation! We managed to bit the traffic, taking MTR back to Tsim Sha Tsui and bought some bread/buns on the way for our dinner. All cakes, buns and bread were almost gone by then! They've only got like two trays of buns left!
The gale was already gusting at 70-80 km/hr while we were walking back to the hotel. The rest of the night, we just stayed in the hotel watching news and eating buns. It seems to me that the Cyclone No.8's gale is not as strong as 160 km/hr but I must say it is far more hazardous than what we had in Wellington due to the geographical and the compactness of the city.

So, there gone my 1st day in Hong Kong....didn't really do much unfortunately.

Flight to Hong Kong
The flight from Auckland to Hong Kong was a pleasant one. Scrumptious food, large varity of movies and a 180 degree bed for a good night sleep. 11 hours of flight didn't seem that long after-all. Thanks to Air New Zealand airpoints for the free upgrade!

I am back!
Safe and sound.... I miss you, all of you.
Sorry for the long spell of silence as I was away holidaying in Hong Kong.
It wasn't quite a vacation due to the weather. I am sure Misha knows what I am talking about. The trip had the high & low, up and down, wet and more wet. I had my once a lifetime (I hope) experience of their Cyclone No.8 and it rained everyday I was there. All in all, I enjoyed Hong Kong still. People there are polite, friendly and with good manner. Hong Kong is full of charm and character, no wonder it is dubbed the Pearl of the Orient.
I will share more about the trip in my up-coming posts with lots and lots of photos! For now....here are my little catch! Hehehehe

The good old days
I am a devoted reader of this gentlemen u.lee. I enjoy reading his experiences, his good old days and his willingness of sharing his knowledge. I guess it's good to read something out of hands of different generation, to see things from different perspective and also to learn from their experiences. Though I am not from the baby boomer generation, I certainly think that their school days were more interesting than mine. Having to know from my dad and uncle Lee, those pranks they played, things they did for their passtime, which are far more creative than I could ever thought of. That's their generation, the baby boomer.
So what about my generation, so dubbed "gen X"? What did I do for passtime, and what pranks did I scheme? Nothing that would raise any eyebrow! Apart from those humdrum tricks that everyone else was playing that time ( e.g. hide & seek, masak masak, rubber rope, firecracker tricks etc), I didn't do anything outrageous. I was always the "mummy and daddy" gal, living under a big umbrella, well protected from those harmful "rays". I am thankful for that. The best I could remember vaguely is, my bro and I tying a grasshopper on the fireworks and flew him off to the sky. Poor grasshopper, my curiosity and thoughtlessness had cost you your precious life. I am sorry.....
My life got even more monotonous during my teenage years. It was all studying, tuitions, piano lessons, NO PRANKS. I wasn't a geek but neither was I active in much outdoor activities apart from being the object of some teases and rumours. I spent most of my time studying but never a top student. hahaha. When I wasn't studying, I wasted my time admiring idols, watching tv and talking on the phone! And, there gone my teenage years, having nothing to boast about.
Although monotonous, those are my good old days that get me here today!
Have you done anything outrageous in your school days? Glueing teacher on the chair may be? Hehehehe

A night in Motel
I was out last night "partying" till 2 am. Went to this bar called Motel, located within CHOW restaurant to meet Irene's friend from Christchurch, Phoebe, who is spending a weekend here.
It wasn't a real partying actually, just having fun, making new friends and chatting over some drinks in a bar. The night was probably still young for some, but I was already struggling to hold my eyes. The only thing I could think of then was my soft, cosy bed. What a sleepy head! (~_~)zzzz
Anyway, we're quite impressed with the ambience and the musics. It was an enjoyable night! Emmm.....I could see the potential of Motel being our preferred jamboree spot.

Mistipurple and Eve both want to know how I would spend my 1 million if I was given the chance. 1 MILLION man! That's huge to me.
Anyway, let's see how I would spend that 1 million (1 million in NZ dollars ok).....
250,000 - pay off my mortgage
350,000 - property investments
200,000 - ING investments
60,000 - Luxury holiday for 6 (Rick and I, my parents and in laws)
50,000 - Fixed term deposit
50,000 - my dream car
15,000 - Shopping spree for my bro, and two bro in laws (equal share)
10,000 - charity (I do believe in karma)
10,000 - Rick's shopping spree
5,000 - mine shopping spree
So yeah, there gone the 1 million! Wah~~~can't believe I really sat down and seriously think about it. Like I am really going to have this 1 million like that. Hehehehe.
Anyway, thanks Misti and Eve for granting me the dream (^_^) Hehehehe. Now, I need to really drag myself back to the reality. Sigh!
