Christhurch PART 2: Food
It is all about foooooood today. One of the things in life that I so much adore. Although Wellington has the most restaurants/cafes per capital in the world (or so it claims), Christchurch offers nicer, cheaper and bigger portion of Asian food. There are some you just can't get in Wellington.
Hot mini donuts are what I heart the most and they are the most delicious donut I ever tasted and only available in Christchurch (from what I know). It is just a small stall located in the middle of City mall near Cashew street. The last time I had this was more than 6 years ago. These mini donuts are freshly fried while you wait (it's worth the wait trust me!) With just a dollar more, you can choose either a chocolate or caramel toppings. If you fancy whip cream, then toss out your 50 cents! I love it with caramel and whip cream! You know, the combination of both with the caramel melting on the hot donuts....it is undoubtedly HEAVENLY! It is a sweet surrender! *slurp*

Dinner at 福臨門

蒜香骨
Christchurch is full of Korean's restaurants and shops, it's everywhere! I've longed for Korean's food, so went to this Korean Noodle House along Riccarton Road, ate like no tomorrow. Hehehe

Surprise!
Ok, I think I've left the tartan skirt, off shoulder top, boots and the behind-the-tree pose up for too long. I had been lazy for past week. *slap slap* I wanted to continue on rambling about Christchurch, but there is something more important I want to write about today.
Rick rang me while I was working hard in the office......
Rick: Eh, I went to collect mail just now, and got this package from KL for you wor.
Doreen: Huh? You serious? From KL? Who who?

Doreen: Eeeee........ANTHRAX...then how? You open lah, very carefully wor, keep the envelope far far away k?
*Rick opening the envelope*
Doreen: Quick, tell me what it is and who from?
Rick: It is.......

Doreen: Winn? W~I~N~N Winn?
Rick: YES!
Doreen: OMG OMG!

Rick: Who is this person? *Rick starting to kpo liao*
Doreen: Winn loh, my lovely friend from blogland, you don't know one lah.
THANK YOU Winn! Your lovely gift really caught me by surprise! Lucky my heart is still strong enough to take it. Hehehehe. It is very sweet of you, so sweet. (^_^) You made my day \(^O^)/, in fact you made my whole week, the coming weekend too! I LUP U! Muak muak muakssssss!

Christhurch PART 1: The beautiful Garden City
So I went to Christchurch for a short break.
We hadn't really been back to Christchurch for 5 years except for those transits or one-day business trips that didn't really offer much time to enjoy this beautiful city. It was a 3-day break, so we took this opportunity driving around, taking photos.
Christchurch has changed a great deal with some shopping malls undergone an almost complete facelift, and some infrastructure make-overs. We revisited places we had lived and areas that we frequented during our naive campus lives, feeling all nostalgic about it. Through out my 5 years campus life here, a lot of stories started in this place, and some ended here. There were laughters, there were tears. It is here that Rick and I first met, started our story....and it is also here that we said our goodbye putting an end to that story...and now, we are here, hand-in-hand reminiscing about the past. It's funny how life has turned out to be! (^_^)
ANYWAY! Enough for the nostalgic talk. How about walking down the memory lane with me aye? Photos time that is!
Warning: lots of camwhoring pics ahead!

We then drove pass this house that caught my attention. It looks just like an giant popsicle. Citrus flavour! Aiyo, so yum especially on this hot sunny day. *slurp*

Tag: Handphones
I've received a tag from Chen, wanted to know about my handphone history.....
List down the following:
1. The phone(s) that you owned previously
2. The phone(s) that you're using now
3. The phone(s) that you're looking at to replace the current phone
Took me a while to remember the models of the mobiles I previously owned.
1. The phone(s) I owned previously
Alcatel One Touch View - My first mobile ever! Bought when I was in my 3rd year of uni. I though it was cool then, but now....heck...it's so bulky that it looks just like a water bottle. Well...a mini water bottle, you know what I mean.

Nokia 8850 Gold - Once I started working, I ditched the bulky alcatel for this. When I saw this phone, I knew I wanted it. It is the only phone that had my heart pumping fast the minute I laid my hands on it and it is, still my favourite albeit the obsolete features
Samsung S500 - Then came the rave about polyphonic ring tones and colour screen and all, so I switched to this Samsung. Very simple and basic phone, nothing fancy.

2. The phone that I am using now
Samsung SGH E800 - I have been using it for 1.5 years now. It is enough to cater for my need. Small and cute!

3. The phone(s) that you're looking at to replace the current phone
None. I haven't came across one that catches my heart like the Nokia 8850 did so no plan to replace my current phone. Although, at one stage, I was quite keen on the Motorola RAZR V3i D&G Gold (sigh! Why the model's name so long one!). I ditched the thought coz' it doesn't worth the price tag I think!
I want to tag the following people
May
Eastcoastlife
Liwan

Hong Kong Day 6: Finale
Alright, final instalment of my Hong Kong trip! I know, it’s kinda boring. We didn’t do much on our last day there, so not much to share, and not many photos too. This is strictly for the sake of completeness. I just don’t like doing things half half and leaving it hanging there like that. So, bear with me.
We didn’t do much of sightseeing or any intensive shopping today but decided to eat our heart out at Café Rendezvous, located in our hotel upon checking-out. They offered this international buffet lunch for HK$158++ per person. Quite reasonable we thought. We headed off to the airport after lunch, did a bit of shopping there and wondering around taking pictures and flew off.

Hong Kong is such a wonderful place full of its characters. The people, food and spectacular night scenes are just amazing and not to forget a shopping heaven! We had enjoyed our stay despite the weather, and we are comtemplating of going back next year, definitely not in their summer this time!
So, goodbye Hong Kong, for now. We'll be back! *The Terminator style* Hehehe
More photos here if you're keen.

Hong Kong Day 5: Kowloon at leisure
No, I haven't finished bragging about my HK trip, not just yet. My first trip to HK mah, of course I want to talk non-stop, and share all my photos. Sorry hor if you already sick of it (^_^). Bear with me for a little longer, then I can talk about beautiful Christchurch!
My original plan for today was a day trip to Macau. However, since the weather hadn't been nice, there were still a lot left to see/do in Kowloon. Adding to that, we didn't want to take the risk of being stranded in Macau should there be another weather warning. That would be the last thing I want for my holiday. So, we ditched Macau for Kowloon, taking it easy.

Exploring Mongkok
One of the main reason we came back to Mongkok was for THIS....
The infamous "smelly tofu"

It is big, hot, crispy and smelly (actually not that smelly lah, it was falsely exaggerated I think), and HEAVENLY! HK$ 6 each. Well worth it!

Women Street

Tung Choi Street (Goldfish Street)

This is how they sell their fish, lots of gorgeous and unique tropical fish

Temple Street. Not so happening during the day...

Dim sum affair
Went “yum cha” at this Majestic Restaurant last Saturday. Their dim sum is alright, not as good as the one we frequent. We decided to go there only for one thing….
THIS!!

Durian Pastry!!!
Yeah, Majestic is the only place in Wellington I know that offer this yummy durian pastry. It is effectively a fried fresh durian…just like those “pisang goreng” we have back in Malaysia but with durian filling instead of banana. So yum that it would melt your heart out the minute you put it in your mouth....*slurp*
Of course, besides durian pastry, I also enjoyed my beloved Portuguese egg tart and the BBQ pork pastry. And no, I didn’t forget about you Misti who kept checking out my fridge for egg tart, and also Winn, you wanted one too right? Oh, you want two? Sorry wor, I only get one for each of you. See if Misti want to donate hers to you or not lah. hehehehe
So there you go, as promised Portuguese egg tarts for you two. One each…Hehehehe Enjoy!

Hong Kong night
The true vibrancy of this Pearl of the Orient begins to stir when it dons its cloak of dusk with dazzling neon lights adorning the vivacious city. It is a true celebration of the end of day and the beginning of a new day!

Adding to the already incredible panorama, at 8pm every night, the spectacular Symphony of Lights show with laser beams and lights bouncing off skyscrapers from both sides of the harbour synchronised to music would definitely have you bouncing off your seat. This 20 minutes glamorous multimedia display with 43 buildings taking part has been named the “World’s Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show” by Guinness World Records. Definitely a great indulgence and a must see in Hong Kong!
Unfortunately, almost all the mpegs I recorded are too big to be allowed in You Tube. So, can only share with you this one and only.
Yeah, it is indeed the most boring part out of the bunch (-_-), but I am sure there are better ones in You Tube (^_^)
