A walk in London....or...?

Saturday
Woke up a bit early today to stock up some fruits and greens at Saturday market. Then a quick Mcdonald breakfast before the movie.

Ya, I thought I was probably quite out of place wearing like this to a dirty market. But it was such a good sunny morning, and weather like this is a rare find in Wellington's bleak winter. Or, may be I am just vain and didn't want to look like an "ah so" picking up fruits and veges. Muahahahaha
Also found myself being featured on Sunina.com's blog, an American based internet shopping site selling mainly girly accessories. Anyway, not that it is a biggie to be featured there, it was just something fun. They sell many sweet and beautiful pieces, and the owner herself, Patricia is a real sexy babe too! Hehehehe
Homemade nachos anyone?

Aren't you glad it is Friday?
It’s been an awfully long busy week for me. There were a lot to get through at work and I dragged my weary body along with the worn out brain home everyday. Tiring. Exhausted. It is however, a very fruitful week.
Glad that it is Friday and I am now sitting here sipping my cup of green tea, typing away with my mind all blank. ……really blank…….What a boring entry….oh well …I will try again soon….
Y’all have a good weekend!
Good night!

VIVO
Celebrating our 3rd year anniversary on 19/06 at VIVO, an Italian restaurant.
The ambience is nice, service good apart from taking forever to serve the food. The food so-so only. Rick didn't like his tuna dish. My lamb rack turned out quite nice but the crème brulée I ordered was rather disappointing, well just not how I like it. It was a full 3 course meal which we don't normally do, and we ended up sleeping with fully stuffed stomach. Awful! The punishment of being gluttonous is definitely not pleasant.

Me sleeping....trying to conserve energy while waiting for food. Muahahaha (Of course not! I was doing don't know what also...couldn't recall)

Specialty breads filled with traditional secret Italian sausage family recipe

Crispy Polenta chips served with herb sour cream

Tuna with salads & boiled potatoes

Rack of lamb with roasted shallots, capers, spinach and cherry tomatoes

Tiramisu (doesn't look enticing in any way)

crème brulée with strong almond essence (I don't like!)

Tribute to my parents
I decided to write about both mum and dad, the two persons that I owe my life to. Without them, I wouldn't be here.

My dearest mummy, the most beautiful lady with a heart of gold. She is poise, gentle and smile is always on her face. She is the most optimistic person in the family and believes everything is achievable if you put your heart to it. She always reminds us to face life with an open and happy heart as life is just too short to be miserable. The other very important teaching mum passes on to me is to be presentable all the time especially when going out meeting people. She has taught me, we being a lady need to take care of ourselves, be presentable and confident to bring out our best and being married or a mum should not deter it. My mum is a full time housewife, taking care of both my elder brother and me, doing all the cooking, cleaning and whatnot, and never a single complain coming out of her. She is always so willing to give. She, is the sunshine of our family.
My dearest daddy, now a retiree, is the best father I could ever hope for. He is respectable and yet funny the same time. He provides the best he could get for us. I remember and always will, how hard he has worked and saved to get my bro and I where we are today. He has provided us a steady foundation (i.e. education) for I can now enjoy a better life. Daddy also plays a main role in teaching us to be a better person, and till today, he is still constantly reminding us to be respectful, not being wasteful and never look down on people. He, is the foundation and pillar of our family.
I am thankful to be born into this family, and proud to be the daughter of these two very special persons. So, on this special day, I want to thank my parents for bringing me up and for all that they have done for me. Last but not least, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Taiwan: 台中 Taichung PART III
Time for food....we were out there searching.......

Street full of food stalls

Fermented tofu
伍角船板 [Five Cents Driftwood House]
A massive restaurant built out of driftwood, scrap metals, clay, stones and shells. Very creative design I must say. The restaurant was built without a single blueprint. It was soley designed by Hsieh Li-Shian who solely relied on daily communication with the builders on her ideas in mind. It sure doesn't bear any resemblance to a restaurant from the outside but once you step inside, you will be amazed by the earthy and unusual interior. It is indeed very cosy. This restaurant is very popular. It was featured in Discovery channel a while back as I was told. However, the food is not over the top, only average. The selling point is the ambience and its artistic interior. I suppose when you are busy taking photos and admiring the art, you just couldn't care less about how bad or good the food tastes as long as it is edible, yes?

Well, that's the end of my taiwan trip instalment and I will conclude it with this photo taken in Taipei through our room's window......

Taiwan: 台中 Taichung PART II - 九族文化村
Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, The largest outdoor museum in Taiwan dedicated to displaying traditional homes and architecture of Taiwan's nine principal aborigine tribes. Also serves as an amusement park with beautiful European garden and exciting rides.

We spent more time admiring the beautiful European Garden than taking on the rides.

If you have watched the Taiwanese series 公主小妹 aka Romantic Princess then I am sure this European garden will look familiar to you. Yes, it is the setting of Xiao Mai's magnificent mansion, or more accurately her grandfather's. I thought it looked kind of familiar the moment I step into the garden and it only came into my mind the minute I saw the two golden towers.

The golden tower

The garden also bears a close resemblance to the Garden in Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna except that there was no single flower while we were there. (It was winter!)
THIS IS TAIWAN........

THIS IS VIENNA........
Deja vu? Let's see again.....

Photo taken from http://vienna-photo.esem.sk/
Very similar right?
Train that takes you round the village
Aladdin

Taiwanese bah chang (rice dumpling). Taste so so only.

麒麟峰溫泉 [Chi Lin Fong Hot Spring]

Ok, I didn't jump in.
Excuse #1: I forgot to bring swimsuit
Excuse #2: I was not confident enough to join the naked spa area
However, I tried their famous hot spring egg, boiled in their natural hot spring. It was half boiled just like what we normally have but tastes a bit different.

孔雀園 [Peacock Garden]
It was mating season. The male peacocks were busy flaring out their feathers to gain the females attention. I just love their beautiful feathers and elegant appearance especially their graceful walk. What a beautiful creature on earth!

日月潭 [Sun Moon Lake]
Taiwan most popular honeymoon resort. Breathtaking view overlooking the emerald lake and mountains. It wasn't as beautiful as I imagined (from the photos I googled) may be because of the gloomy weather we had that day.
文武廟 [Wen Wu Temple]
A temple built to enshrine and worship 孔子 [Confucious], 關羽 [Guan Gong] and 岳飛 [Yue Fei]

Christchurch business trip
So I was in Christchurch for 3 days 2 nights, for business purposes. Am not getting into anything about works here, but to share what I managed to do after working hours.
View from the top...approaching Canterbury
I stayed in room 802, Holiday Inn City Centre. Not bad. The room was very tidy and clean but I think it is just too big for single person. Two double beds! For what? I know, one for me, and the other for all my clothes and junkies! Muahahaha
My hotel room
Tue night, met up with Hui and Donny for dinner at 老地方 (Lao Di Fan), my favourite hang out spot, also many asians' favourite I believe.
Look at their jumbo size pearl milk tea! It is HUGE!
With Hui, the little kid! Hehehehe
Comes Wed night, dinner again with Hui & Donny. This time it was Korean at TJ Korean restaurant! I love Korean food and there is not many here in Wellington.
Now you see!
Now you don't!
Then, we carried on chit-chating at Coffee Culture.....
We had a great time! We talked so much and laughed like no tomorrow. Hui even had insomnia due to laughter overdosed. How cute is that? Hahahaha
