My wedding: The gown
I got married 3.5 years ago, this "My wedding" series is just a recap and also to share some of the details as well as some thoughts I had at the time.
It is the most expensive dress I've ever owned, and also the most beautiful one. It was also the first wedding gown I ever put on and it is of course a wedding gift from Rick.
When I was searching for my wedding dress, I knew what I want and don't. I was very determined on simple yet not at all monotonous design. The dress must not have any single crystal/bead/stitched flowers of any sort. A-line ball gown silhouette that gives me a sweet princess look. That's my style. I even made a sketch of my dream gown (and lost it!) thinking to get it tailor made if I didn't come across anything I like.
I made an appointment with a bridal boutique here in Wellington for a trial just to get an idea of what looks best on me as well as trying my luck to find THE gown. What I want may not be what my body likes you see, so a trial was necessary.
So, there I was, looking through racks of sample gowns...then lo and behold...MY DREAM GOWN!!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes! It is almost an exact match to my sketch, just that it has a bit more details on the top part which makes it even more gorgeous! I couldn't see anything else but the gown, so I tried it hoping it would look good on me. And boy was I lucky, I fall in love with it as soon as I saw myself in the mirror. Although the sample gown was 2 sizes bigger, it looked great!
I didn't want to waste the session for trying only one gown though I've had my mind set on this gown. So I went on trying another 3 more and nothing beat that first one.
I put down my order.
The gown arrived 6 weeks later. I donned it on once again, this time the right size. And it was stunningly beautiful. It was impeccable!

The war of airfares
I have a habit to check out Air New Zealand website for the cheap grab-a-seat airfares everyday, first thing in the morning. They offer this kind of incredibly low price fares everyday, either domestic or international and sometimes both in a day! All are revealed only on the day.
Today, like any other day, I arrived into my office, logged into my pc and went straight to the website. Boy was I stunned when I saw THIS!!!!
Yes, $13 one-way fares on selected Domestic, Tasman and Pacific Island direct flights for one day only. All to be revealed in each hour through the day till 10pm! Man this is torturing, no knowing what is coming up. Oh the $13 is NET hor, all included no hidden cost!! This is a chance hard to come by I tell you. Their normal grab-a-seat fares are around $39-$69 though they had the $1 - $10 deals before, which I missed out. So, today I was so determine to at least grab one, anywhere will do! In this kind of war, there is no time for you to think and plan. You don’t even have time to choose which one you want let alone flipping through the calendar. IT IS A WAR!!!!!!! Nevertheless, I failed terribly. My fingers were so slow like tortoise (no offence to the gentle creature). I just wasn’t fast enough. Very disappointed. I missed out on Auckland, Christchurch, Tauranga and Hamilton.
I didn’t want to give up, I hate to give up. I had 4 more hours to fight once I reached home. I guess practices make perfect. Each failure brings you a step closer to the throne. After much anticipation, I finally managed to grab 2 seats to Dunedin. Although I’ve lived there before, a revisit stills a good way to jot the memories.
Then Rotorua came out. Being a greedy me, I went ahead, got to the last button and eventually gave it up due to the tight travelling period. Finally, all gone 15 mins before the closing time.
So here I am, very happy about my triumph. Now I shall start enjoying some headache planning this trip! Hahaha
I love you, Air New Zealand!

Hate
I have been very grumpy lately, complaining quite a lot (to Rick especially). I don't know, I guess the weather has been driving me nuts. We are already half way into spring yet winter is still lingering around. I am really so sick of it. Winter in Wellington is bleak and miserable. I don't mind being cold (as in the South Island) but I just hate it when it is wet and windy (more like gales). The bad news is, weather like this is a norm here. How sad.
I hate it when I cannot wear skirt
I hate it when my hair turns into a nest
I hate it when I have to brave the wind while walking
I hate it when I cannot use umbrella on rainy days
I hate it when I get soak wet
I hate it when I cannot sleep because the gales is so bloody noisy
I hate it when I cannot do what I have planned
I hate it when I lose my mood in dressing up
I hate it when I get grumpy like this
I hate it, I hate it and I so hate it!
Ok, complain finished. Thanks for listening (I mean reading).

Tempt
I tried out the famous beautiful cupcake from Tempt today. They have many different flavours and designs, took me a while to make my decision. I eventually picked the Hummingbird Cake with pink butterfly. The cupcake was so gorgeous that it was almost impossible for me to land my first bite on it. Apart from the attractive decorations, the cake itself tastes very nice too, rich and moist, just how I like it.
The cupcake cost $6.50 each. Quite expensive (and a waste too) for casual/daily consumption but definitely a good gift idea. They also offer personalised cupcake service. Now...whose birthday is next on my list......
The cupcake comes with a nice little box
Hummingbird Cake: Banana, coconut and pineapple cake topped with cream cheese frosting

Crazy Horse
No, they don't sell horse nor certainly no crazy horse.
They sell steak.
In fact, this place serves the BEST and most expensive (I think) steak in Wellington! People have been raving about this place, so I decided to find out how BEST their steaks are. Looking through their menu, mainly steaks with different cuts, are all highly priced ($30 - $40) as I expected (Hey it is a fine dining). BUT when I got to the last item of their mains, my eyes almost popped out! A good 300g sirloin steak for NZ$80!!!!! (O_O)!!!! I had a hard time holding my eyes in. $80!!! What kind of steak is it? Century steak ar? As much as I could make myself to believe in what I saw, I couldn't believe I actually went ahead to order this thing! OMG, what had got into me? As how Rick had put it: "Hey, you're already here to taste their specialty why not go all the way?" So, there I was, bravely ordered this sirloin steak, medium rare with my choice of style - Mushrooms. Rick ordered their normal range of Rib Eye Steak, medium rare with classic style.
After a good 15 mins wait, the food arrives. A big white plate with a piece of steak on mushrooms, topped with mushrooms gravy. Looks like any ordinary steak, nothing special. A bit disappointed. BUT, as soon as I put a piece in my mouth, my whole body went alive! Yes, it was good, it was great, IT WAS THE BEST!!!! No kidding, the best steak I've ever tasted! The tenderness and the taste all hit the jackpot. So, I can say I didn't regret though I still think $80 is a bit too costly. But if this is the price to pay for the best, then it is! Rick was extremely happy with his Rib Eye too.
Would I go back there again? Yes, I don't mind going back for their normally range steaks since they're already so much better than other restaurants but definitely will not order their Sirloin. I've tried it, it was great and that is enough.

I simply love the painting

Mt. Ruapehu ski trip - Ohakune
Ohakune, about 4-hour drive from Wellington, is the gateway to the two ski fields on Mt. Ruapehu, namely, Turoa and Whakapapa. It is a ski capital of the north island, also been dubbed as the Carrot Capital of New Zealand. Why Carrot Capital? Beats me! I didn't see any carrot there apart from one giant carrot while entering the town. May be I should also put a giant piggy in front of my house then I can call it the Piggy Home of New Zealand!!!!! Muahahaha. Ok, not funny.

Mt. Ruapehu ski trip - The villa and the bunch
This is the place we (12 of us) stayed for the entire ski trip. It was a bit run down, but I suppose I shouldn't complain for $25 per person per night. Top that with a nice view and a big plasma TV with SKY! Consider ourselves lucky coming in last minute!
The villa is located at Raetihi, about 11km from Ohakune the main town for the skiers. Raetihi itself is a tiny wee little village with some shops (old, ramshackle with severe sign of vandalism) but most of the time were closed when we were there. They were either abandoned (speculation here) or closed for the weekend (Sigh, I should have taken a picture of it!). When we drove into this village, first thing came into my mind was “House of Wax”! You know the small village in the movie. *shudder* It was sooooo quiet and not a single person in sight. This is just plain spooky!
The villa
Here comes the flower picker! Muahahaha
Mine! Mine, mine mine! Muahahaha (ok, enactment only ya, I didn't pic the flowers!)
Swing......swing...weeeeee~~~~
Weee~~~so happy~~~~ (Grow up la! *roll eyes*)
