My take on Starlit (no spoiler)

Just finished watching Starlit final episode. And I’m still crying typing this entry. I guess I wanted to jot down my thoughts before it all go away.

Starlit, the best Taiwanese idol drama I’ve ever seen. It beats Meteor Garden hands down just because this drama touches each and every human heart. Top it off with excellent acting skills from all the actor/actress. Jerry’s acting has improved hell of a lot.

I’m not a fan of sad drama but I’m real glad I have watched this. Though sad, this drama fills with nothing but love, the precious thing that keeps every human being alive. The story is real and whole. Through this drama, I (and I’m sure many that have watched) have learned a lot from it. Life is precious, life is vulnerable and life is all about not having regrets. When there is no regret, you know you have lived a life!

Here is the MV of the movie.

Hectic Monday

I had a hectic day today. The frustrations were so great that I was swearing hard in my mind. Two of my colleagues were away today, one on annual leave and the other sick leave. I normally have no problem coping but out of nowhere, along came this URGENT thing that needed to be done by end of today. Worst is, it was something that I had never done before. So, I spent the whole morning running around, ringing around hassling people, trying to collect as much information as I could to carry out this task. I even had to ring up my colleage who is enjoying sunshine by the beach. I felt bad interrupting his holiday.

Luckily, with all the helps it was done (and dusted hopefully) just after lunch time. Phew!

Monday is coming to an end, now I'm one day closer to the weekend. Wee~~~~

Today

Had a wee shopping today. Rick finally decided to buy the sling bag he saw in Country Road to replace his current working bag. And, nope, nothing for me.

Then we went yum cha at Dragon. We were quite late but was lucky to get a table. Didn't get to eat what I wanted. The egg tarts, steam bbq pork buns and 豬腸粉 were not where in sight. No, I lied, I did see the egg tarts but was taken by the table before us then no more coming. We were fed up in waiting, off we left. Not satisfied. So we went for 2nd round, trying this new place called Mo Mo Tea, a Chinese chain tea house. We ordered a green tea thick toast, coffee milk tea and taro milk tea.

Recap of the week

Life has been quiet lately. Not much happenning, and it'starting to get a bit boring.

Went to watch "Watchmen" last week. Not quite what I had expected, too long for my liking really. I was expecting an action superhero movie, much like X-Men, Superman kind, you know a lot of blow-you-away special effects. But no, it is more like a story-telling type of movie. I was later found out the movie has followed the comics story line almost exactly. It is not a bad movie, just not my type I supposed.

Also, finally planted the Pacific Blue lavenders which I bought more than 3 months ago, replacing the old species that had died. They're looking good and I just can't wait for them to grow. Now, it's probably time to pay another visit to the lavender farm to get somemore.

I have also been spending my night watching this new Taiwanese series 心星的淚光. I am expecting a sad ending judging from the title. I am not a fan of sad ending, but can't stop watching. Jerry Yan is just too cute! And, of course it is a good drama.

It's Friday. I'm sitting here trying to crack my brain on what to do this weekend. Sigh!

Not in a good mood either. Work issues. I hate it when work is affecting my mood. And IT HAS TO BE ON A FRIDAY!! Sucks!

Here, ending my entry with what I wore to the movie-Watchmen.

Road trip 3: lower to central north island 04-08 Feb 09

Update: Video added

I wasn't looking forward to this trip at all, and this is coming out of someone who is passionate about travelling. All these road trips have pretty much stuffed up my lifestyle. I didn't even have enough time to recharge in between. My skin has deteriorated. Although I did enjoy myself through out the trip, I am definitely glad all are over.

Castlepoint

Home of the lost soles. Hahaha nice one!

Sunrise

Hawkes Bay

Arrhhhh the sunny side of the country with wineries all over! Best place for wine tasting. We had a great time at Crabfarm (It's a vineyard, not a crab farm)

Saw this colourful house at Hastings. So cartoon-y

Gisbourne

The first in the world to meet the sun and awesome vineyard dining! Apart from that, nothing special.

Taupo

Lake Taupo was the main highlight for me as it was one of my most coveted destinations in NZ after hearing all the raves. Lake Taupo, size of a Singapore is New Zealand's largest lake located in central north island. The lake is a result of a volcanic eruption thousand years ago. It is now a famous tourist spot in New Zealand.

Trilogy

Backdated post: 25/02/2009

I was out there searching for a good skincare range to replace my current ones and came across this brand, Trilogy.

This brand has probably been around for a while but my ignorance only brought me to this wonderful product now. Trilogy is a local new zealand organic skincare range. The ingredients they used in their products are nothing chemical but all natural plant extracts. This is also one of the main reasons behind my interest.

Everytime I want to start with a new range, I would make sure I do enough research before I splash my money. The reviews on this brand are unbelievably pleasing, there has been a big rave about it though the products are not widely available in retail store wordwide.

After reading all the reviews and gathering enough information, I decided to make a trip down to the nearest stockist, and ended up picking 4 products. Clarifying shampoo and conditioner, purifying mask and their star product: Trilogy certified organic rosehip oil.

One thing I like about their products is they are New Zealand made so their prices are affordable comparing to those big brand you find in departmental stores. Almost all their products are within the range of NZ$20-40!

I have yet to use the purifying mask and only one week into the rosehip oil, so it's all too soon to comment. I can only say that the rosehip oil doesn't break me out so far and I like the feel of my skin after putting it on, so we shall see. I shall do a review of both a bit later.

For now, I want to rave about the clarifying shampoo and conditioner. The 250ml bottles cost NZ$25 each. This revitalising range suits all hair types especially fine, oily and combination. It helps remove product or chemical build-up and leaves your hair and scalp feeling fresh, manageable and full of bounce. The shampoo doesn't lather very well, which is expected due to the absence of sodium laureth sulphate foaming agent. So it needs a bit of time to get used to really. But, to my pleasing surprise, it cleanses well and you only need the amount of what you normally required. No more no less. Couple with the conditional, I could feel the result almost instantly. My hair is so soft and well detangled. Amazing how natural ingredients can give me what I always wanted for my hair. I now love touching my hair!

Trilogy haircare also has:

Gentle Moisturising Shampoo - for every use to replenish your hair and scalp
Gentle Moisturising Conditioner - to deeply moisturise dry or damaged hair.
Botanical Moisture Masque - to deeply moisturise dry or damaged hair
Smooth Shine Shampoo - to smooth and control unmanageable hair
Smooth Shine Conditioner - leaves hair silky and sleek

It's a happy weekend.

I had fun trying out Rick's newly purchased boardgame, Elfenland.

I had BBQ at my colleague's place. He has got two cute little kids, many sheep and geese, a dog and a huge bunny! The bunny so cute!

I went yum cha this morning, and managed to order all I wanted to eat

I had a wee shopping spree. Got myself a winter hat and a belt.

And, I'm now gonna enjoy my cuppa with a BIG slice of kuih lapis, watching Forbidden Kingdom.

Road trip 2: Canterbury and Otago region 23-26 Jan 09 – Christchurch

The hotel we stayed

Bridge of Rememberance

Me waiting for my hot donut at Cathedral Square!

Christchurch Cathedral

Inside the Cathedral. Beautiful, isn't it?

We had our Chinese New Year Eve dinner with 3 cousins at a Chinese restaurant. It was really nice catching up with them. After the dinner, we decided to have a stroll at New Brighton beach. I really like the balmy and cool sea breeze this time of the day.

Love the change of colours

On the 1st day of CNY, I donned on my bright fuchsia dress for a drive before flying back to Wellington.

Wasabi

Rick bought this cute boardgame, Wasabi to add into his repertory. He is a boardgame geek (shhh.....) and he owns like 70 boardgames!!! (O_O)!! But no monopoly! Hehehehehe

Wasabi, the name so cute, and the game itself is also very cute. Basically, in a nutshell, players compete to make different type of sushi to earn points. The first person who manages to finish making 10 different types of sushi wins the game.

See, got menu somemore!

The sushi mat

And these are wasabi cubes!

The ingredients

Sushi anyone? Order, order!

How to play (in very brief summary):

This game is for 2-4 players

1. Each player draws 3 recipes (of whatever difficulties you wish) and slip them into the slots in your Screen i.e. the menu so other players would not see what you having.

There are 4 different types of recipe to choose from, 2, 3, 4, and 5 combination of ingredients. E.g. if you choose 5, that means you need to collect 5 ingredients (as stated in the recipe) from the ingredients pile. The longer the recipe, the higher the points you will earn towards your winning score.

2. At your turn, place one of your ingredient on the sushi mat until you complete the set. (Just like playing Scrabble lah)

3. If you completed the set in style, meaning in the exact order as per the recipe then you get a wasabi cube.

4. All player need to complete 10 recipes and whoever completed first wins.

5. If the mat is full before a player manages to complete 10 recipes, the game ends immediately. The player with most points wins. In the event of tied, the winner is the tie player with the most wasabi cubes.

Of course, there are also other elements that help spice up the game, e.g some special cards that you can take to give you special actions.

Company shirts

The company shirts that I ordered have arrived. We're entitled two per person at company's expense, 1 wool jersey + 1 top. There are two different types of top to choose from, a black jumper or a light blue shirt. I like the black jumper design, very stylish but I am not black person if giving a choice, and since the jersey is already black I opted for the blue shirt. Geez....big mistake. The blue shirt is so ugly on me, totally an eye sore. The cutting is just wrong. The shoulder is too small, the bust and waist too big. *shake head* Even uglier than my pyjamas! There is no way I would wear this.

As for the jersey, it is 100%, very warm. The fitting is not perfect on me, but I can live with it.

The pink stars are not part of the design. It is to cover off my company's name. Hehehe

Replying a tag from Josephine

The rules are, everything have to be hand written.
U can scan it, take a picture of it, or whatever ways.

1.Your name.
2.Left/right handed.
3.Favourite alphabet to write
4.Least favourite alphabet to write
5.Write down " The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"(Notice it contains all alphabet in this sentence)
6.Name 6 of the people you're gonna tag..

On lighter note. We have roast pork for dinner today. 2 hours slow roast to perfection. Yum yum!
